Lunch & Learn: Changes to Prompt Payment – Know your rights!
September 25, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pmFree
Have you heard? Changes to the Contractor & Subcontractor Payment Act (CASPA) now allow you to suspend work on the basis of nonpayment, once certain contract conditions are met. The changes will go into effect October 2018.
While this is a “win” for the construction community, it is extremely important to understand your obligations and rights before exercising suspension of work.
Therefore AGMA, together with Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC will host a lunch & learn September 25, 2018 @12:00.
This meeting will cover the general procedure regarding your right to suspend work as well as qualifications that must be met prior to suspension. Bring the office staff you’d like to understand these new rights and obligations and come ready to ask questions!

Back in June 2018, PA Governor Tom Wolf signed House Bill 566, also known as the Prompt Pay Law, which amends Pennsylvania’s Contractor & Subcontractor Payment Act (CASPA). CASPA was enacted in 1994 to address construction industry payment abuses between owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. The new amendments allow a contractor or subcontractor to suspend work on the basis of nonpayment after certain contract conditions are met.
